Powelton Methodist Church in Hancock County

It was probably organized around 1800 when Powelton was a crossroads and thriving community. The current church was built on the site of the original church around 1830. The community thrived in the early part of the 19th century but other roads were built and the railroad bypassed the town so that by the Civil War it was already well past it's prime. Today the town is a sleepy little community of a several homes and two important historical churches. This is one of them although it is abandoned and needs some roof work, it is in relatively stable condition for now.
