Devereux United Methodist in Hancock County

It was established at some time prior to 1857 about 10 miles away in a tiny community named Ebenezer. The community dried up and so did the church. The last members moved the church closer to them in 1857 to be on the main road and stagecoach route between Sparta and Milledgeville. It was renamed Reynolds Chapel after it's pastor. In 1870, the community where the church is located was named Devereux Station after the railroad came thru. The current structure was dedicated in 1911 and the name was changed to Devereux. and the church is still going strong today.
