Founded in 1866 by the Col.John Green's daughters on land he gave them. All but one of the graves are Confederate Soldiers who died at the Battle of Resaca. When the Green family returned to their plantation after the battle they horrified to see the dead soldiers in makeshift graves and wrote for donations to fund the cemetery. The one civilian grave is that of Mrs. E.J. Simmons, who was responsible for many of the improvements later in the 1800's.
