Penfield Baptist in Greene County

It was organized in 1839 just after Mercer University was organized. This is the Chapel that was built for Mercer by David Demorest in 1845-46. It is virtually unchanged in it's original appearance. In 1871, the university moved to Macon and the chapel was given to Penfield Baptist which was next door. The original foundation is till visible.
