The Old Negro School in Glynn County

The little school was built around 1900 on the grounds of Needwood Baptist Church. That church was founded by ex-slaves in 1865 and moved to it's present location in the 1880's. Church members wanted their children to be properly educated so they opened a school. At first they met in the church until money was raised to build the schoolhouse.
