This weird, rinkydink-looking bridge carries College Street over the railroad and the Silver Comet Trail in Cedartown, . Built in 1918, the roadway atop it is paved with granite blocks. Back in the eighties, we found some similar blocks in West End while building a MARTA line, and we were told that they were ballast for oceangoing ships. I don't know if it's true, but it makes a good story. 😁
I was showing my Dad some photos I took of Cedartown, and he was telling me about when he was there in 1952. He said that he didn't remember where the railroad station was, but there was a humpbacked bridge next to it.
"Is this it?" I said.
"Sure is!"
