Mulberry Street United Methodist Church in Downtown Macon

It was founded in 1828 on 2 lots granted by the Georgia State Legislature for that purpose 2 years prior. In 1831, the Georgia Conference was organized at Mulberry and the church became known as the Mother Church of Georgia Methodism. A new structure for the growing congregation was built in 1850. That survived until a fire gutted it in 1965, leaving only the stained glass windows, which were built into the new sanctuary shown here, which opened in 1968.
