The Bachelors' Academy in Jackson County

Located very near the historic Shields-Ethridge Historic Farm. Built in 1909 by Ira Ethridge, who was a teacher, on land donated by James Shield's grandsons It was named for the grandsons. James Shields was one of the area's earliest settlers.
