There is not much of any history written about it. It was established in 1886. The original name for the church was the Baptist Church of Christ of Mt Zion and that church was established before the Civil War. In 1852, the congregation moved to Mt. Stephens while after the Civil War, Mt. Zion began it's decline to the point that it has now vanished except for Mt. Zion Presbyterian. At some point the name of our church was changed to Mt. Stephens. The cemetery is small which probably means the church has not been in this location for 133 years. The tax record says it was built in 1989 but that most likely only accounts for the steeple, entrance porch and building to the rear. More than likely the church pre-dates WW2 and maybe even pre-1920.
