It was established in Troup County in 1814. There is no written early history and most came from being passed down generation to generation. The first church was a log meeting house and academy. built prior to 1820 on land donated by Green Caudle. This was replaced by a white wooden frame church built prior to 1850. During the Civil War, Confederate Troops camped out and drilled on the church grounds. In 1892, bees built a hive in a corner wall of the church and some young men decided to smoke them out and get the honey, but instead burned the church down. As they rebuilt the church they were deeded the land by Green Caudle's son who now owned the land. The third church was completed in 1893 and lasted untll this brick church was built in 1948.
