It was founded sometime in the first two decades of the 1800's. Nobody is sure exactly when. The first place of worship was a brush arbor along a spring and very near Sharon Baptist Church, which was a thriving congregation already. The first services were started by a hermit who lived near the spring. Later they moved to the current location and in 1825 land was deeded by Mr's Green Dozier and Warren Briscoe for a new church. The congregation outgrew the original building and a new building, the current one was dedicated early in 1860. The church is still active today.
