Clemons Chapel

In 1880, some people came together and established Polksville Methdist Church along a road from Lula to Clermoint and Gainesville. It was near a small place known as Glade Community which was a couple of large farms and gold mines. One of the trustees was Charles Clements, but on the deeds it was spelled Clemons. As the late 1800's went on, Glade was doing less mining along the Chattahoochee but operated grist and saw mills and the church served them and was much closer than going to Lula. At that time the public school met in the church. Then in 1903 the church burned. After that Charles Clemons solicited donations to build a new church debt free which he did and land was deeded for a new church and cemetery.across the road. For his service in getting a new church built debt free, the new church was named Clemons Chapel and it is still in service to this day.
