The Royal Theater in Hogansville

It was built in 1937. The Arts Deco style building was constructed by O.C. Lam, whose brother was Troup County School Superintendent. Folks were happy it was owned by a local and not one of the larger companies then building theaters. The first movie shown was "Sing Me a Love Song" starring Zasu Pitts. The movie theater closed in 1981 and in 1984 became city hall. Last year after some contentious debate, the local citizens won out and it was decided to renovate the building back into a theater but it needs a lot of work  and so far they have the money to get into the repair part but will need more to renovate back to its former glory.
