Bethany Presbyterian Church

In 1842 twenty-three people from three different Presbyterian Churchs in Newton County met and formed Bethany Presbyterian Church. The first structure was about a mile down the road and became Bethany Academy when the current structure was finished in 1852. In 1947-48 there was a renovation and Sunday School added. In 1980, the sanctuary underwent a major reconstruction but it is still the original structure.
