The Zora Fair Cottage in Oxford

Obviously updated over the last 169 years the house was built in 1840. Zora Fair was a South Carolinian living in Oxford when the Civil War broke out. After Sherman had occupied Atlanta she disguised herself as an African-American by staining her skin with Walnut hulls. She then went to Atlanta and snuck into Sherman's HQ. She overheard some of the planning and attempted to get the info to the Confederate Army. Her letter was intercepted by Union Troops, who went looking for the author of the letter. There are differing accounts as to whether she was interrogated and held by the Union Army. She returned to South Carolina at wars end and died shortly thereafter.
