Turin United Methodist Church

It was established about 1838 at a crossroads called Tranquil. Around the same time some other pioneers formed a small community called Preston nearby. The first church was a log church and later replaced by a small frame church. After the Civil War the railroad came to the area and a predecessor of the Central of Georgia built thru town on it's way from Griffin, north towards Rome and Chattanooga. Land was donated by two families to built the town of Turin along the line and in 1870 the town of Preston moved to the new town. The church near Tranquil moved to Turin about 1880 and became Turin Methodist Church. In 1886 the current structure was completed and the congregation is still quite active today.
