Ropville United Methodist Church

It was established in 1874 by several prominent citizens including the son of the town's namesake. At first they met in the Baptist Church. In 1883, the year after the post office was established, John Roop donated an acre of land and half the money needed to build the church. The small wooden church was built that year by church members and volunteers and it is the present building. Originally the church looked very different with two steeples and an entry foyer. In the late 1940s the steeples were removed and a brick and tile front portico was created. At the same time a basement was excavated and stained glass windows installed and that is the church as it is today.
