Home of Major William E. Simmons and Mary Ambrose of Lawrenceville

Date of construction unknown. Simmons was born on August 26, 1839, but I don’t have any information on Mary. After graduating at the top of his class from Emory College, William Simmons assumed editorship of the Lawrenceville News. In 1863, he rose to second in command of the 3rd Georgia Sharpshooters, in the War Between the States. After the War, he returned home to practice law.
