Hopewell Associated Reformed Presbyterian Church

It was formed in 1830 by a group of children and grandchildren of Revolutionary War Veterans who had migrated to Newton County from South Carolina. Under the leadership of Reverend Henry Bryson, the congregation built a log church and grew pretty quickly. In 1855, it was decided to build a new church and in 1856 the current structure was dedicated. The old log church was still in existence and in the 1870's was used as a school for some time before being moved. The church remains active to this day.
