Newberry Missionary Baptist Church in the Double Branches Community of Lincoln County

It was founded by people who had been born into slavery but freed as children. This church was constructed in 1903 as a wood frame church. Over the years the church aged and wood rot took it's toll and in 1981 the wood siding was replaced by brick below the roof line and refurbished above it, keeping the keeping the beautiful bell tower and spires in place.
