Powell Chapel in Tallulah Falls
The earliest Christian Worship in Tallulah Falls was when a Methodist Minister, Billy Wood held revivals in the Cliff Hall Hotel in the years 1880-1882. In 1884 they established Powell Chapel which was used as a church and a school. A practice that was very common in rural areas. In the early 1900s the chapel became a Union Church with both Baptist and Methodist services. In 1921 land was donated for a new Methodist Church and Tallulah Falls UMC was dedicated in 1923 and is the present structure. Powell Chapel was sold to the Baptists in 1924.
