Old Home in Helena
Once a thriving farm/turpentine town, Helena recently merged with McRae to create a new entity--McRae-the Willcox/ Mizell house owned and inhabited by Griff and Allison Mizell. It was purchased when it was a year old about 1897 by our Great grandfather James Lee Willcox and then added onto. Previously occupied by his daughter Miss Martha Willcox and my grandfather Lee Willcox. As you can see it has been lovingly restored and maintained and it contains many of the original antiques and furnishings. It is believed to be the longest continually occupied residence by one family in Telfair County history.
