Union County Church
Zion Methodist Church was founded sometime around 1849 as Oak Hill Methodist Church and they built a small church where Young Harris County is today. The founding members were the Carsons, Kirbys and Crow families. Not long after the Civil War the church was moved to the hill where the current structure stands. The church finally became unstable and was replaced by the current structure around 1910. At that time another church, Stanton's Chapel, had closed and they received the pulpit, benches, kerosene chandeliers and table. This sanctuary has outlasted the congregation and after it closed a new church, Calvary Cross Baptist has occupied the building.
