Bethel Baptist Church in Dawson County
It was established in 1841 in what was then Lumpkin County. In 1848, the current property of 40 acres was purchased and a log church constructed. At some point the log church was replaced by a frame structure as membership grew. In 1909 a committee voted to build the third church on the site and it was dedicated the next year. A fire destroyed the building and in 1920, the current sanctuary was constructed. Over the years it has been expanded and even moved back from the road when it was paved.
