Bethel Baptist Church in Merithewether County

It was established in 1829 about 10 miles northeast of Greenville. The original building was believed to be a log structure but there no records to confirm. In the 1844, the congregation had outgrown the church and the members voted to move the church another 4 miles north to better serve the members and so they met in a house in the Rocky Mount part of the county just southeast of Luthersville. Soon after a new church was built on the present site. The current church was built in 1902-1903 in front of where the old building was. There is no record as to what happened to the old building. The church is still quite active.
