Tunnel Hill in Whitfield County

The actual railroad tunnel made famous in the Great Locomotive Chase. A new tunnel was cut nearby because of the increasingly larger and larger trains leaving this one just as it was in the olden days.
These were taken in 2008 as a friend and I were passing through and decided to stop on a Sunday afternoon. A kind gentleman was sitting in the parking lot waiting for Sunday visitors. He gave us about a 15min history of the area along with showing a scrapbook with a ton of old local photographs. He opened the gate and we walked through the tunnel, just the 3 of us. It was a really nice time.
