It was established in 1834 and a small church constructed the same year. It was constructed on land owned by Lewis Ellington and the first preacher was William Ellington. The Sunday School was started in 1851 and has operated continuously since then. In 1859 Barnett Wilson donated 2 acres of land about 1/2 mile south of the church and a new church was constructed there as it was closer to a crossroads and more accessible. The church has been active on the property since. There has been a new sanctuary constructed but the original building still stands on church property and is undergoing restoration.
