Historical Founder’s Cemetery in Roswell

It was created in 1840 and used until 1860. The first burial was Charles Irvine Bulloch who was only two years old when he died from Scarlett fever. This disease took the lives of many children starting in 1841. The last burial here was a child named James A. Burney on May 18, 1860.
Other people who are buried here include Roswell´s founder, Roswell King; Major James Stephens Bulloch, grandfather of President Theodore Roosevelt and grandson of Archibald Bulloch, first president of Georgia; and John Dunwoody, Esq., builder of Mimosa Hall and his wife, Jane Bulloch Dunwoody.
Sixty-five people are known to be buried in this cemetery, but there are only 23 graves that have markers. Some graves are only marked with large stones, but others are not marked.
