Salem Baptist Church in Forsyth County
It was established in 1843 by Rev Drury Hutchins and 12 charter members. At the time this area of northeast Forsyth was quite remote but it was soon on a stagecoach road between Cumming and Gainesville. In 1846 land was procured for a cemetery and the congregation joined the Hightower Baptist Association. In 1847 a log church was constructed very close to the present church. It was replaced several years later by a church partially on the site of this building. It was replaced in 1900 by the third structure which was destroyed in a tornado in 1944. The sanctuary I posted was dedicated in 1947 and used as the sanctuary until it was replaced in 1992. I so not know what this building is used for now but it still belongs to Salem,
