"Saragreen" in Washington
Built in 1828 by Daniel Chandler on land owned by Duncan Campell. Chandler, a lawyer, legislator and future speaker of the Georgia House had married Campbell's daughter Sarah G Campbell. The house was bought by Isaih Irvin II in 1830, He became Commander of the Wilkes Guards and was speaker of the house in 1860 when he was killed in a steamboat boiler explosion. His son Charles became the owner and in 1880 added the columns, balcony and side porches.
