The Post Office Building in Monticello
It was built in 1936, originally including basement offices that were used by the US Agriculture Department, and long since vacated. The building that previously stood on this site was a three story white columned house known as the Stagecoach Inn. As the stagecoach entered Monticello, the coachman would blow a horn once for each passenger on board so the innkeeper would know how many meals to prepare. Brian Harlan
