The Samuel Elbert Hotel in Elberton

It was opened in 1925. The hotel was sorely needed and money was pledged by local businessmen and some even raised by high school students. Over the years the building has been bought and sold several times and even renamed. In the 1960s it was converted into office and retail space and closed in 2000. In 2012, the city aquired the property and parking lot and mulled over what to do with it but again the need was there for a quality hotel in the city and so they renovated into a modern hotel with modern facilities and brought back the the original name. The renovated and restored hotel re-opened in 2017.
