The Brown House in McDonough

Circa 1883. Originally a a small house was built on the property in 1826. In the late 1870s a major expansion was undertaken. Completed by 1883 this is its form today. It was owned at that time by Mrs Asa who operated it as a hotel for awhile before it became a private residence. Today it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and houses a Genealogical Library and Family Research Center.
