It came from the mother church called Crossroads near Westminster SC. Before the Civil War, it had moved near the Tugaloo River and was called Tugaloo Church. The move was to be closer to the Riverside Plantation across the river. Following the Civil War in 1871, an elder in the church A.H Ramsay, and two teachers established a Sunday School in Toccoa. In 1874, the first services of Toccoa Presbyterian were held in a small building where the post office now stands. In 1881, the first church building was constructed across the street from the present sanctuary. The first service in the current sanctuary was held in 1926. and there have been 2 expansions since.
