Swamp house
This is the backside of the historic cabin called the Hebard Cabin or Floyd's cabin on Floyd's Island in the Okefenokee Swamp. I took this picture in 1987. This was built by the Hebard Cypress Company and is now on the National Register of Historic Places. We canoed for miles to get there and we made sure to go in December when the insects were dormant. We pitched tents inside to keep out unwanted visitors. I fed a raccoon with my bare hands but don't have a picture to show for it.....but I do still have all my fingers.
