SpringPlace Mission Near Chattsworth

SpringPlace Mission was built along side the Federal Road in 1801, just outside of Chattsworth.  It served as the first school of the Cherokee Indians until 1833 when the Indian Removal project began. The missionaries packed up and went west with the Indians to continue their work. There is nothing left to see but a few markers and a cemetery but the legacy lives on.
