The Old Pierce County "Hanging Jail" in Blackshear

Built in 1894. It was called that because of the tower but no one was actually ever hanged there. The jailor and his wife and family lived downstairs and the the prisoners were confined upstairs. The jail cost $4,992.00 to build and is well constructed of brick, stone, and steel.
