Athens Building

Photo Challenge #6 Athens in Clarke County
Originally constructed in 1906 as the Federal Building that housed the post office and the federal courthouse, this building was acquired by First American Bank in 1971. After extensive renovations the bank moved into the facility in 1973 and still maintains its main office here. This building located at 300 College Avenue in Athens was the first adaptive reuse of an historical structure in the downtown Athens area. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
