Shrimp Boats in Darien
Darien is home to Fort King George which was the southernmost point of the British Empire in North America in 1721. Darien itself is Georgia’s second oldest planned city, founded in 1736 by Scottish Highlanders. By the early 1900’s, Darien was one of the largest ports for shipping lumber in the Southeast. Once the lumber was depleted, Darien became a fishing village known primarily for Georgia Wild Shrimp.
