Sharp Memorial Methodist Church in Young Harris
The first permanent home for the not forgotten and current Sharp Memorial Methodist Church congregation was built in 1892 in Towns County. The North Georgia Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, in Georgia established a school for children in the North Georgia Mountains and called it the McTyeire Institute. It was later renamed Young Harris College. This church building, which stands at the entrance of Young Harris College and currently serves that college campus, was dedicated on May 29, 1949.
